Information Submitted Directly
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the outside provider that supplies the results. Our own servers do not retain a copy of those search entries. If a visitor contacts us, we receive the contents of that message and use it to respond.
Automatic Technical Data
Ordinary hosting logs can include an IP address, browser type, page requests, and timestamps. We review that information in aggregate for reliability and general readership patterns. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics and, where relevant, advertising measurement.
How Limited Data Is Used
We use the limited technical information to operate the service, diagnose faults, measure general traffic, and improve the reference material. Visitor lists are not sold, and the site does not create individual reader profiles.
External Services and Links
Links may lead to Wake County, North Carolina, library, archive, and third-party search services. Each outside service controls its own privacy practices for information submitted there. The same is true of sponsored results delivered by an outside provider.
Service Providers and Disclosure
Hosting and support providers may process the technical logs needed to run the service. Analytics or advertising partners can receive the automatic data described above. Information is disclosed when valid legal process requires it or as otherwise permitted by law.
Security Practices
The service uses an encrypted connection, and operational logs are retained only for the purposes described here. There are no visitor accounts, passwords, or resident profiles stored by this site.
Visitors Under 18
This reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. Contact us if you believe a minor has sent information so it can be removed.
Your Information Choices
Depending on a visitor’s place of residence, laws may provide rights to ask about personal data a service holds. Because this reference retains very little, a request usually involves checking the contact mailbox and applicable server logs, then removing what can be found. Use the Contact page to ask. The North Carolina Public Records Act, N.C.G.S. Chapter 132, governs access to government records, not a private site’s control of them. Requests about an official Wake County, city, or state record must go to its custodian.
Policy Revisions
Any revision will appear here. Continued use after a posted revision indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
